Silicone coating gets pitched constantly as the cheap alternative to a full roof replacement, and sometimes that pitch is right. Sometimes it's a way to spend real money delaying a problem that's going to surface anyway, just with more damage by the time it does. Silicone coating forms a fully bonded, UV-resistant membrane over an existing roof surface with no laps or joints to fail, and it has a real advantage most other coatings don't: it holds up under standing water.
